I’m going to party like it’s my birthday, cuz it’s my birthday!

Today is my birthday!

I had a nice day. We drove out into Derbyshire to see some countryside and stopped off at the Moorlands pub on the way, which is a fabulous place to eat a carvery. I LOVE a roast dinner so an easy choice to make about where to eat on my birthday. Roast Turkey and Pork. Both were delightful.

Spring has definitely sprung.

There was a cool breeze, but when the sun graced us with its presence it was a nice day all round. It felt good to be out in the fresh air.

Bakewell

View in Bakewell. Proof of sunshine!

I’m a third of the way through the third draft of I Can See You. I finished the 10th chapter last week and I’m now on another 3P break.

Print, pause and polish.

Then it’s full steam ahead to get through the next 30,000 words before the end of the month. My rough deadline for finishing this draft is the end of April.

And yes, I have done some writing today. I polished a couple of chapters this morning and plan on doing another couple later this evening. Just another day. With cake!

Some interesting facts about the 4th March:

Born on this day include American footballer Landon Donovan, Liverpool Legend, Kenny Dalglish, British actresses Tamzin Merchant and Patsy Kensit, American actresses Stacy Edwards and Patricia Heaton, UK Comedian Tim Vine and to add a bit of culture, Vivaldi was born on this day in 1678.

One of my favourite comedy actors, John Candy, died on this day in 1994.

In 1789, the US Constitution came into effect following the first meeting of the US Congress in New York.

In 1918, the first case of Spanish flu is alleged to have started ahead of the devastating pandemic. Happy thought.

People Magazine published for the first time in 1974 and in 1977, the Vrancea Earthquake killed over 1,500 people in southern and eastern Europe.

Cheery things happen on this date!

May you all enjoy your 4th March and CAKE all round!

A belated Penblwydd Hapus Pete. I’m a big fan of the carvery too but I’m afraid my plate would resemble Vesuvius with any form of potato available. It looks like you have a lot more self control than me. But maybe not, since we didn’t see the size of the piece of cake you had.
I used to enjoy a trip to Derbyshire , anything from the Blue John Mine to the Matlock Bath area. The scenery’s just fantastic.
Well done on the progress. Sounds like you’re quite strict with yourself. I’d be very easily distracted.

Thanks, David. I did save room for a reasonably large portion of cake 🙂

It’s very handy being on the doorstep of Derbyshire. 40 minutes drive and we’re in the thick of things around Chatsworth and Bakewell. Nice and soothing countryside..

Happy Birthday! I’m glad it turned out to be a good day. That dinner looks amazing. It’s been a while since I had something traditionally British like roast dinner. Good luck with your writing! I hope you don’t get too bored with editing and revising.

    • Pete Denton says:

      Thanks. 🙂

If in doubt, roast it 🙂

I’m enjoying editing. I used to hate it, but know I look forward to the tweaks and re-writes. I must be MAD!

A belated happy birthday, and I just have to ask, was that gravy as good as it looks? I am a gravy connoisseur. When I go to a new restaurant I always try to order something with gravy so I can test and rate it.I’m all about the gravy!

Happy belated birthday! I love a roast dinner, too! My dad is from England and he always made roast beef, roast potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding on special days, like birthdays. You made me nostalgic. 🙂

    • Pete Denton says:

Thank you and happy to help!

I do like a good Yorkshire pudding though even as a skilled Yorkshireman, I cheat and buy frozen ones from the supermarket.

  16. Happy Happy Belated Birthday to you! Sounds like you had a great one!

  17. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, Pete!! Glad you had a great time on your special day!!
