Okay, let me start with the apology.
Over the last few months (or more) I’ve been nominated for some blogging awards (I know! Go figure.) and have been tardy in my responses.
Tut, tut.
I like pass on the awards to bloggers who I haven’t nominated before and that often takes time.
Time to right the wrongs.
First up is the ABC (Awesome Blog Content) Award nominated by the fabulous EllaDee Words. This award asks the recipient to name 26 alphabetical things about themselves and then nominate other bloggers.
A – Arthritic. A sign of ageing though I was diagnosed in my thirties. Pesky feet 🙂
B – Blogging. Including the aptly A to Z Blog Challenge happening in April.
C – Challenges. I love competitions and challenges that push you to achieve things.
D – Detectives. I’ve had various attempts at writing Detective books.
E – England. Proud to be English.
F – Follically challenged. Most of my hair fell out one night. I went to bed with a full head of hair and woke up with nothing.
G – Golfing. I love playing golf. I’m no good and A prevents me from playing much these days.
H – Honest. I once handed in a £10 note I found on a shop floor in case the owner came back for it.
I – Injury. I’ve broken, dislocated, embedded, fractured, strained, ruptured and twisted things down the years.
J – Journey. We’re all on our own journeys and after years of meandering, I feel like I know where I’m headed. At last!
K – Ketchup. Or tomato sauce as we would say. I like it. A lot. Put it on everything 🙂
L – Liverpool. The Football Club – The Mighty Reds 🙂
M –Myopic. Hence the needs for S
N – NaNoWriMo. I was really pleased to take part in Camp NaNo last year. One of the winners 🙂
O – Opal Fruits. Made to make your mouth water sweets. Now called Starburst. I ate a ton of these growing up.
P – Piscean. Hence my love for W, I think.
Q – Quality. Try to produce my best in anything I do.
R – Respect. I try to respect everyone the same way I want to be respected myself.
S – Spectacles. Been wearing them since I was 11
T – Tourettes. Musical to be precise. I posted about it here.
U – University. I regretted not going to university when I left school, but I enjoyed my time at the Open University even though I only stayed for the diploma in Creative Writing. Any more courses would have taken time away from my writing.
V – Very. One of those words you should NEVER use. Very unnecessary. 😉
W – Whitby. My favourite seaside town. As a fish water relaxes me. See P
X – X-ray. Boring answer I know, but I’ve had numerous x-rays down the years thanks to all the things mentioned at I.
Y – Young at heart. I’m still 15 in my head.
Z – Zzzzzz. Nap time.

His Lordship, David Prosser nominated me for the Illuminating Blogger Award. Thank you very much, kind Sir.
Here’s how it works:
1. The nominee should visit the award site (http://foodstoriesblog.com/illuminating-blogger-award/) and leave a comment indicating that they have been nominated and by whom. (This step is so important because it’s the only way that we can create a blogroll of award winners).
2. The Nominee should thank the person that nominated them by posting & including a link to their blog.
3. Share one random thing about yourself in your blog post.
4. Select at least five other bloggers that you enjoy reading their illuminating, informative posts and nominate them for the award.
5. Notify your nominees by leaving a comment on their blog, including a link to the award site (http://foodstoriesblog.com/illuminating-blogger-award/).

I once played a Munchkin in a school play of The Wizard of Oz. I kid you not! If my sister is reading this post, she played Dorothy no less 🙂

The final award for now, I have received my THIRD nomination for the Liebster Award from jdanryan over at Raging Gail.
Liebster is a German word meaning dearest, and the award is given to up-and-coming bloggers generally with less than 200 followers who deserve some recognition and support to keep on blogging. I’m using the old school rules, which are:
1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you. Done
2. Reveal your top five picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog. Done
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog. Done
4. Hope that the people you’ve sent the award to forward it to their five favourite bloggers and keep it going! Fingers crossed

Phew!
That’s more than enough for now. Since starting this post I’ve received MORE nominations. I’ll save them for another day.
Thanks for reading and thanks again to these really cool bloggers for nominating my little old blog. 🙂
Congrats on all these awesome blog awards. Wow, you are so good about following the rules. 🙂 And congrats to all the bloggers you nominated! 🙂
Thanks, Kourtney. I try to follow the rules. I’m good like that 🙂
Way better than me. 😉
Gosh, I was supposed to do this on those nominations? oops. I think it’s too late now 😦
I think you can do whatever you want with the nominations 🙂
I know that I like to bend the rules to suit me.
Reblogged this on rachel4848 and commented:
Really lovely of Pete to have nominated me for an award. Feel very honoured 🙂
Thanks for the nomination! And congratulations on all your incredible wins!
Thank you and, you’re welcome for the nomination. keep up the great work 🙂
Thanks Pete that’s really lovely of you to nominate me particularly as i have only been blogging for a month. I have shared your blog link via Twitter and re-blogged it too. At least think i have as i’m not all there with technology! Thanks again Pete you’re a gent 🙂
You’re welcome, Rachel. Happy blogging 🙂
Hi Pete
Thanks very much for nominating me but i’ve resolved not to do any more blog awards until my next book is written. Appreciate the thought though!
No problem. A very wise move. They do take an age to write.
Happy writing 🙂
Wow… a heroic effort 🙂 Congratulations on all the awards, the work you put into a comprehensive response and the many blogs nominated.
Thanks, EllaDee. That’s probably why it’s taken me SEVEN months to respond to some of the nominations 🙂
I do enjoy finding other blogs to nominate though. I’ll have to find some more blogs now thanks to more recent nominations 😉
Congratulations! I am celebrating that I found your blog!
Aww, shucks. Thanks 🙂
Look at you Mr. Wins-Every-Award-On-The Planet-Denton. Good for you. Well deserved.
Thanks, Robin. Small consolation for being overlooked at the Oscars again this year. Maybe next 😉
Wow, I’ll bend the rules even for one award. 😉 Kudos to you for being so good about them! Now you can sit back and enjoy the way they look on your blog. 🙂
Thanks. I like to at least try and stick to a few of the rules. Running out of things to share about myself though 🙂
Thanks so much for the nomination. 🙂
I am hugely impressed that you have managed to cram recognition of all these awards into one post too!
Thank you. A mammoth post months in the planning 🙂
Oops – I’ve been bad too! It must have taken you ages to write this post.
By the way – we call it the Ketchup Fairy in our house: she keeps coming around and making it disappear! 😉
I think the same thing happens here. I can’t eat THAT much of it surely 😉
I need to keep on top of the blogging awards so they don’t turn into nightmare posts again. Simple plans and all that 🙂

Congrats on all the awards! And thanks so much for the nomination 🙂 I’m sure you were a great munchkin, haha.
Hahaha, thanks. I’m sure I wasn’t 🙂
Congrats on all these wonderful awards! 🙂
Thank you. Missed out on an Oscar last night, so they made up for it 😉
I like the A-Z info about yourself, that’s a fun idea, although now I can’t get the ‘Made to make your mouth water’ tune out of my head! Do you remember Pacers too? They were like Opal Fruits but mint, white with green stripes.
I do remember pacers. I’m sold with anything minty.
Sorry for the song. It ran through my head for about 12 hours. Something else will drown it out. Eventually. 🙂

Hi Pete – I do read your blog and I remember you being a munchkin very clearly – did you deliberately omit the fact that you were the only munchkin with your arm in plaster -or was that a fact you were going to reveal at a later date? I like the 100 word thing – I think I may have a go at that………
Hello, sis!
I like to keep some facts back 🙂
The 100 word challenge is a good one. A nice length for a short story. You’ll have to let me see what you come up with.
Speak soon 🙂
Congrats on all of those awards! I let mine pile up, too, so don’t feel so bad!! I love magnolias, too. Are you able to grow them where you live?
We have a magnolia tree in the back garden. Each year it becomes more and more impressive. When I’m on the bus travelling to work, I pass a house that has an ENORMOUS magnolia tree. Maybe, in about 20 years ours will be as big. 🙂
Wow! All I can say is congratulations! This is more than impressive and you deserve it! I hope more awards come your way. It is always motivating 🙂
Thanks. They do take some effort to pass on, but always seem popular posts.
She started very carefully to undo the wrappings, taking care not to rip the paper. The box presented itself in all its opulence – shiny black lacquer with gold inlay – a gold clasp hinting at what may lie inside. She shyly undid the box and there laying on a bed of crushed velvet lay just what she had been waiting for.
“What does it taste like?” he wanted to know.
She bit into the crispy outer layer and it shattered into tiny pieces.
“Disappointing” she replied.
Get you!
I like it. If I were being overly critical I would point out you’re under word count. 😉
I like these short prompts. You should do some more.
Fair comment – I always struggled to write a lot at school – I’m going to get Isabel to have a go and see what she comes up with
Let me know what she comes up with.
Pete, thanks so much for the One Lovely Blog nomination. I’m honored!
Congrats on all your awards 🙂
Thank you very much. And thanks for inventing the Illuminating Blogger Award 🙂
So sorry for my late response, Pete. Thank you for including me, but I haven’t been blogging much lately so I’m reluctant to take on such a challenge. Maybe when I lift my game!
No problem. I know the effort these things take. 🙂
Oh my gosh. I’ve been bad too, but I don’t think I could ever do all that work you did to redeem myself. Congratulations!
