June is HISTORY and we are ALREADY half-way through 2012.
This year is flying like nobody’s business.
We had two weeks off work this month so the weather turned and the sunshine was replaced with rain and threatening looking clouds. We’re used to it. The number of times we’ve had leave from work and the weather has worsened. I tell you. NEVER take a holiday if you know we’re off. It’ll end in tears!
As well as Cleethorpes to see the sea. We spent one of the nice days out at Kedleston Hall. This place was built in the 1760s as a party pad. If you’re ever in the vicinity of Derby I recommend checking it out.

Onto the goals:
*
1) Write more:
This month I’ve managed to write:
- 14,685 words;
- which is 49 pages;
- or the final 7 chapters of my book.
I was determined to finish my novel this month. And finish it I did. With the two weeks off on leave I needed to finish this month. It wouldn’t have been good if I hadn’t managed to write the last chapters with no work to go to each day. I have struggled to write after work for the last few months. One of my colleagues left during June and until she is replaced my workload there isn’t going to reduce.
So the final counts for the novel are 98,155 words and 342 pages. It’s printed and stored for a few weeks. Gone, but certainly not forgotten and my trusty notebook is still on hand for the next stage of tinkering.
*
2) Read more:
I’ve only read ONE book this month, but that does take my total to ELEVEN for the year.
Once I’d finished my writing for the month I decided to take the rest of June off. For everything. I’ve done some reading but not much. I have started a new book so will pick up the pace in July.
*
3) Stay the same weight & Migraine watch:
The healthy eating plan continues as does the curious daily curly wurly crusade I have going. I have eaten one every day for the whole of June. Mmmmmmm
The weather has been muggy and I’ve had a few small migraines again. Same as last month they start and fade into the background. Hopefully, they’ll continue that way.

Half way through 2012 already. How are you doing with your goals for 2012?
congrats on completing your book.
Thank you. Already looking forward to the next draft 🙂
Whaaaaaaaaaaat? We are halfway through 2012? Now you tell me. I need to get busy writing.
Its true, Robin. 🙂
More writing sounds good all round.
Congrats!!!
Thanks 🙂
You did great things this month. I got away to a writing retreat and pushed out a lot of words that need a lot of editing. I can’t believe we are half way through the year. that’s scary.
It is scary isn’t it. Time flies too quickly! I hope you enjoyed your retreat.
I had a great time Pete, highly recommeneded.
Many congratulations on achieving your targets Pete and getting the book finished. I hope you get through the next processes quickly before the months slip away unseen and the end product is ready for Christmas.
Thanks, David. The next draft shouldn’t take as long (I hope!) so after Camp NaNo in August I’ll back on it. Christmas sounds like a good target to aim for.
Congrats on getting the novel finished, an excellent accomplishment, hope you get more reading time during the summer months 🙂
Thanks, Claire. I keep downloading books faster than I’m reading them! With the British weather I get a good chance to read them and listen to the rain falling outside 🙂
Congrats on your writing goals 🙂 I hope t is some comfort to you to know the G.O. & I take the rain with us when we go away. Our country neighbours welcome our arrival as they know the tanks will fill & their gardens will be watered. Unfortunately too many times the “tap” stays on & we are inundated with rain & jokes at our expense!
Hahaha, sorry EllaDee, but that does sound like us. We’ve gone away a number of times and left the good weather behind and journeyed into monsoon type weather. Still nice to get away though 🙂
I’ll join the masses in saying Congratulations Pete 🙂
As for goals, what are those again? Just kidding. I have been writing, but not the stories I should be. I’ll keep working away at it though. 🙂
Thanks, Ava. Any writing is good! Happy writing 🙂
Well done on the decisiveness, maybe next month swop the curly wurly migraines to wispa ones?
Thanks, Christie. I haven’t had a wispa for *like* forever 🙂
Next shopping trip I might have to buy a few.
You are so right about this year flying by. I can’t believe it’s almost August and I’m still editing my first book. I’ve finally written out a plan so I hope it helps.
Great job on your goals. 🙂 Tell the migraines to go away and never come back.
Thanks, Corey. I will tell my migraine to vanish and keep fingers crossed 🙂
Good luck with the editing. And hopefully the rest of the year will bring great writing all round.
Thanks, Pete. 🙂
